Can You Feel It?
Today the rain washes away winter's snow,
Off from glistening city streets,
Trickles into rivers between the cars,
Into the sewers beneath my feet.
Can you feel it? Can you feel it?
A new warmth carried in the wind.
Last night I dreamt of railroad tracks,
A journey of discovery, a taste of sea air.
Crossing the valleys of my imagination,
And somehow you were always there.
Can you feel it? Can you feel it?
A new heat carried by the sun.
And we were straddling the banks of the Mighty St. Lawrence,
Marooned amongst its silhouetted islands.
Breaking open a bottle of wine,
With a view toward the Adirondack highlands.
Sharing the moment,
Exploring the feelings.
The innermost desires of human beings.
Wondering what tomorrow will bring,
While dreaming of a future yet to begin.
If you listen you can hear your own footsteps,
Beating a path across my consciousness.
Where familiar faces meet in the strangest of places.
I can offer you my heart and nothing less
Can you feel it? Can you feel it?
A new love carried in the stars.
Last night I dreamt of mountain ranges,
Cascading upwards out of the sea,
Flowing like the open veins of the red blood earth,
Silently beckoning towards you and me.
Can you feel it? Can you feel it?
A new world hidden in your mind.
